Mini-Vacation: Old Mackinac Point Light

Tuesday, August 22:  4:30 p.m.  We got back to our hotel, freshened up, and hurried over to Old Mackinac Point. Tours were ending at 5:00, and I didn't want to miss going up to the top of this darling light!
 We arrived, and immediately got our tickets for the lighthouse tour. This is a very nice operation. All of the outbuildings were open for viewing, and there is a Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum that I simply MUST go inside and look around ... NEXT time!
 Below is the Keeper's Kitchen ...





 We got to climb to the top with about 8 others and a guide. This was our view from the top!
 And looking through the porthole windows ...


 The Gift Shop was very nice ...


 I hope to make some beautiful cards from these pictures ...





We left the grounds of the lighthouse with the intention of going back into town, eating dinner, and then going back to Dark Sky for a look at the constellations ...
