Mini-Vacation: The Upper Tahquamenon Falls

Thursday, August 23:  Mid-afternoon. After visiting a somewhat disappointing lower falls gift shop (!!), we drove (instead of hiking the 4 miles) to the upper falls--you see, we still wanted to make it to White Fish Point before the day was out ... considering we had the entire drive back to Grand Rapids to do as well!
I'm going to just run these pictures for now ... they really do not need explanation ... God's creation just screams His being, His majesty, His glory, His awesomeness out here ...

There is a 94-stair climb down to the summit of the upper falls for good viewing and photography. The down wasn't bad, but the "up" was ... ouch!

Not satisfied with having seen it all yet, I urged Emma to also hike to the gorge. There were 116 stairs there, 145 if you counted the other viewing areas we went to ...

What a gorgeous place. Can you imagine it in the autumn ... or in the cloak of winter?! Yikes!
