All four kiddos

Saturday afternoon/evening, November 3:  I don't have many pictures to show for it, but FINALLY all FOUR grandchildren were under my roof at the same time--at least for a little while. I picked up the girls at 3:30 and Jesse dropped off the boys at about 4:30. We ate dinner, had our Bible story, and then I had to drop Chris off at a party (it was about 6:30) and then the rest of us went on to the Mall to the bungee trampoline place.

Emma wasn't with us the last time we did this, so this was a first for her. Matt was with us, but decided he wouldn't jump tonight--his upper body is still sore from last time when he did a ton of flips on this thing. I wasn't sure Kaity would want to try it again; but she did, and she jumped higher this week than the last time. Here are the girls waiting for their turn.
Here are just a few of Emma happily jumping. This thing goes REALLY HIGH and Emma is not fond of heights. I was pleased with how high she was willing to jump ... because it was super ... HIGH! I love her smile in these pictures.
Kaity was a little braver this week and tried a bit more force with her jumps (which makes you go higher). She's a tough little person. She still was not willing to try a flip--that's OK--perhaps with more practice, she will. Emma was going to TRY a flip but she said Matthew kept urging her to flip and (she is stubborn) and didn't like him bossing her around. She kills me.
Prior to going to the mall, though, and prior to dropping Christopher off for the birthday party of one of his friends, we ate dinner together and then we had our Bible time. We did a really difficult story. I had waited to teach it until all three of the older children were present. It is the story about the consequences of David's sin and what happened to his family as a result. You see, David was allowed to live, even after murdering Urriah and stealing his wife; but God did punish David through his family--his baby boy was struck ill and died 7 days later; another one of his sons brutally attacked his half sister (Tamar), dishonored her, and was then hated by Absalom (another of David's sons). Absalom had Amnon murdered, and then over the years assumed the throne from his father David, which caused a "war" and Absalom's subsequent death. God had told David that his sin would not go unpunished. But, you see, sin always has devastating results. The kiddos drew and colored in the story as I was telling it. There was good discussion, good questions--Kaity listened attentively, and even though the story was way above her understanding, she followed along and was not disruptive. I'm so thankful for these children. I'm grateful I get to teach them God's Word and see what that seed sown does in their hearts.
