The Train Show

Saturday Morning, April 13:  I picked two sweet grandsons up early this morning to take them over to the Train Show on the southwest side of town. We had a necessary donut stop first. Kelly suggested Rise's bakery (specializing in gluten-free goodies) over on Fulton. We joined about 300 other people (!!) in a building fit for about 20 (I'm not kidding), but managed to squeeze ourselves into a few seats and eat our breakfast.
Yikes ... these guys as SO dang cute.

The train show was super crowded too! But for the 90 minutes we spent there, it was a lot of fun. Brendan actually got to run TWO trains. He got very helpful instruction from the workers there. Nice people.

As always, Brendan was super intense about ... trains! He has always been like this about trains!
Brendan took it all in stride ...
Brendan got to run this super long train for a good amount of time.

He was very pleased to do so too.
There was a nice steam engine chugging around a track too.
There was also a special room for LEGO trains and a nice play area too.

Aidan got up out of his stroller for this one. He thought the whole thing was rahter cool.

Brendan built for awhile at a very huge LEGO table, with about 15 other children. All of them played very nicely together! There was NO shortage of LEGO pieces. Everyone got in on the fun.
Aidan sat on my lap and did a steering wheel project. See the little yellow strip in the picture below? It seemed to be Aidan's goal to completely cover it with ... steering wheels!

Brendan built a bunch of random stuff for awhile, and then asked to go back into the main train area. We walked around and looked at everything. We were even able to purchase $21 worth of straight tracks, a few connecting pieces, and two split tracks which will be very helpful for building our layouts here at home!
Baby Aidan was pleasant throughout ... naturally. He is a very pleasant baby!
We stopped and ate a quick lunch over at Chik-fil-a with about 5,000 other people all crammed into the tiniest space ever! But we managed to devour our chicken and fries dipped in mustard, and then our excursion was over! I'm really glad the boys were able to do this today with their grandma!
