Aidan and I go to the ZOO

Friday, September 7:  Brendan is in school full time this year, so a few days a week I am going to get to spend time with JUST Aidan. Today, we went to the zoo (among other things). Aidan was super into it.
This little child is a CHARMER. I'm not kidding. He could charm the socks off of you! He's just the funniest little person!
We decided to visit Mr. Lion's area. On the way, there are these drums to play with ... I don't think they are bongo drums, but they remind me of them ...

Mr. Aidan put a lot of SOUL into his bongo-ing too ...

Aidan generally has a good time wherever he is! Look at his little happy face!

We got a real treat with Mr. Lion today. The usually alusive beast-y got CLOSE to the window! This was a first for me!

We visited the African Savannah--an absolutely GORGEOUS creature ...

We saw the tigers for awhile, but they would NOT come close to us ...
We stopped to play at one of the children's areas. Aidan was trying to get up the nerve to actually walk on this netting ...

He looked like he was going to venture out, but then "plop" he decided to just sit and watch the other bouncing children.
It was a gorgeous day to be at the zoo. We have been under quite a hot spell for several weeks. Today, it was cool and breezy. I have never seen the zoo look SO amazing--the plants and flowers and ... everything!
We also got to see the chimps being fed spaghetti squash! It was REALLY something. I wish Brendan and Kaity could have seen this too.

The chimps would hold out their hands and the zoo workers would toss down the squash--the chimps could actually CATCH it! It was amazing.

Aidan and I will make the zoo a regular "stop" in the weeks ahead ... while the weather permits and the zoo stays open!
