One week until Christmas ...

Wednesday, December 18:  While I was setting up our cookie decorating table, Brendan attempted making a working marble run using our new duplo toys--it's harder than it looks! I knew this would keep him happily engaged while I got everything organized on our other table.
It was trial and error ... mostly error, but we managed to salvage enough cookies to decorate! Our first batch came out as Holiday BLOBS because we had rolled the dough too thin ...
You can see the BLOBS above ... it's difficult to see that these were SUPPOSED to be a lighthouse, a bird, a snowflake (looked more like a flower), a reindeer that was totally scary ...
We got wiser, kept our dough COLD, rolled and then cut into much thicker dough ... anyway, the main thing was that Brendan had fun (me too) and that he was super pleased to take some decorated cookies home to his loved family.
Brendan absolutely adores Matey. What a gift this little bird has been for the children. We are so thankful for him. I love to watch the kids love on him--they each have their own methods of "capturing" the First Mate so that they can be near him.
Brendan and I had another WONDERFUL Wednesday, just one week now until Christmas day!

Brendan is pretty pumped that I am ordering Number transformers for here at the Beach House. We already have Alphabet Robots, but I stumbled upon some Number ones that actually transform into vehicles that all combine into one of two robots OR a mighty truck. There are too many pieces to actually gift this to Brendan to take to his house. He would be so terribly disappointed when essential parts would get "lost" among the other toys. Here, I can make sure we keep all the parts and any time Brendan wants to transform them while he is here, he can!
