June 25 Last Minute Prep, Plan B

Friday:  Having religiously checked the weather forecast 5x per day for the last week and finding out there was an 80-100% chance of HEAVY rain and storms for Saturday--AND based upon the fact that it had already been raining pretty-much nonstop since Thursday night, it was unanimously decided to have Emma's graduation party INDOORS rather than in the backyard and driveway of Jesse's house. SO ... PLAN B was now in effect.

I chalked this rain all up to kind Providence--thank you, Lord--even though at first I was a little disappointed we could not be outside. Jesse's "outside" needed a LOT of preparation if Emma's party was going to be out there. Not only did the entire garage need cleaning, but the yard needed weeding, edging, and extensive cleaning done to the breezway area, etc. It would have taken the majority of Friday to accomplish this.

Instead, we only needed to make sure the INSIDE of the house was decent. Jesse had thankfully mowed the entire yard Wednesday afternoon, making sure the lawn on either side of their very long driveway was trimmed nicely and ready for parking. Extra cars and trucks (there are always extras of those anywhere Jesse lives) were appropriately moved ... and voila! The outside of the house was just fine. Jesse handled all of the other outdoor dealings--marking the parking spots, etc. Thank you, Jesse.

Inside, we cleaned and moved furniture around a little bit--just enough to accommodate a dozen extra people visiting. I brought my four white folding chairs for extra seating. Emma cleaned both bathrooms beautifully. We vacuumed, dusted, deep cleaned the kitchen, scoured the floors, cleaned the refrigerator, covered up the burners on the stove with baking pans (which made for extra counter space), organized Kaity's entire room to be ready for her little cousins to play there, and by 7:45 PM, I was back home at my little house, exhausted but very happy!

I had been working on Emma's picture boards all week. From absolutely thousands of pictures (this is no exaggeration), we narrowed it down to 695 and from there ... all the way down to what you see displayed.
I think Emma was pleased with them. We made sure that there were lots of pictures of Matt and Chris and Kaity with Emma ... family is important. Well, tomorrow is the big day and we are ready!
