The Budgies ...

Thursday, August 1:  The Budgie area was pretty full of children when we entered, and it did not diminish the whole time we were there. It was a little bit difficult to actually get a Budgie bird of our own (so to speak) because there was so much activity and SO MANY children.

Brendan really wanted to get a dark blue bird to land on his seed stick, but it would NOT come to him. This little cutie landed on my stick, and then Brendan came over and it switched to his for a little while.

Brendan is always super careful with little animals. He is gentle and patient and very kind. Animals like him very much! His dear heart is so full of love.

After the budgies, we rode on the bus safari--which was pretty crowded too, but it gave us a chance to sit down for awhile and see the other animals in the outer edges of the park. After that, we got ourselves a snack of Lemonade and cookies.
We went to the Zoo Gift Shop, always a fun thing! Brendan picked out this water game, and a tiny turtle. I brought home a little turtle too (not pictured).
On the way home, we stopped off at McDonald's for a Happy Meal. The toy inside Brendan's box was the meerkat from The Lion King. Brendan didn't have that one yet, so he was very pleased. Here he is making a catepillar out of his straw wrapper ... good job, Brendan.
It was fun to be with you today, Brendan. I love you so much. It's very wonderful to be your grandma!
